Payment Plans
Your program fee payments are divided into 4 installments. Once you are accepted onto the program we will send you information on the payment plan and the due dates. Below is an example of the payment plan for a year applicant:
- Two weeks after acceptance: initial deposit of $1500 plus optional cancellation protection fee of $300
- Five months before departure: $2000 is due
- Three months before departure: $2000 is due
- Two months before departure: remaining balance is due

Scholarships
Every year, EF awards scholarships to a number of students in financial need. We choose scholarship winners based on their application, grades and recommendations.

Personal Expenses
We recommend that you plan for approximately $300 - 350 for personal expenses per month.
To calculate the approximate cost of your exchange, here is a list of some common items that are not included in the program fee:
- Medical and Travel insurance
- Pocket Money
- Phone and Internet expenses
- Transportation to and from school
- School books (except for mandatory classes)
- School lunches
- Travel in host country
- Hygiene products
- Clothes
- Club memberships
- Free time activities
- School uniforms (only applicable for Japan and Hong Kong)
- Passport and visa costs
- Airport taxes, luggage fees and excess luggage
