We look forward to welcoming you and your parents to a personal interview with an EF representative in a town close to you. The interview is a great opportunity for you to introduce yourself and tell us why you want to participate in the program.
How to prepare for your interview
Before the personal interview, you should prepare your application form and, if possible, bring a printed copy to the interview. If you are unsure about any sections of the application, do not hestitate to call us before your interview. Or ask your interviewer for advice.
Bring a copy of your latest grades to the interview. You can also bring proof of personal achievements such as awards for academic excellence, athletic achievement or engagement in extracurricular activities.
What to expect at the interview
The interview is informal, so you do not have to be nervous. Your interviewer will tell you and your parents about the program and what it is like to live with a host family and study abroad. Your interviewer will also talk to you about what is expected of you during your exchange. When possible, you might get a chance to meet a former EF High School Year student who recently completed his/her exchange.
Here is a list of questions your interviewer might ask:
- Why do you want to go on a High School Year as an exchange student?
- What do you expect of the exchange program?
- Why do you think you will be a good exchange student?
- What do your friends and family think about you participating in the program?
