New Zealanders are friendly and laid back, and you will feel like part of the family in no time. All host families are rigorously screened and eager to show you New Zealand. Relax and feel at home in the “land of the long white cloud.”
Your Kiwi host family
New Zealand host families are rigorously screened and come from a variety of backgrounds and locations. All EF host families in New Zealand receive a small stipend for hosting an exchange student. Each family is different, just like each student is different. Many families live in smaller communities, which gives you the chance to meet lots of people and become part of the community.
Living like a Kiwi for a year
As part of the household, you might celebrate birthdays, attend cultural festivals, or maybe even learn to herd sheep! It all depends on your family. While you will not have heavy household chores during your student exchange, you should make sure to help out occasionally by doing things like keeping a tidy room and helping with the dishes.
