Argentinian High Schools
In Argentina there are twelve years of school, as summer is 6 months later than in Europe, the school year runs from March to December.
In high schools in the Unites States you have each lesson in different class rooms with different students; in the Argentinian systems classmates stay together for the majority of lessons. Sharing classes with the same group of students makes it easier to really get to know your classmates and make new friends.
Grades
The Argentinian grade system is based on the ‘Latin American docta’. The scale goes from one to ten, with everything below six being either ‘barely satisfactory’ or ‘unsatisfactory’.
School in the afternoon?
Depending on which high school you are placed in, your school day may not start before 1pm! Some schools in Argentina have lessons from 8am to noon, while for some students the lessons might be from 1pm to 5pm.
